Sophie

Sophie is our kind and gentle Veterinary Assistant who joined our team in 2022. Her love for animals started her career path working at the Kansas Humane Society a few years ago as an animal technician and she has progressively moved on from there! “I love helping animals because they cannot speak for
themselves. I also love helping educate clients about their pets!” she says.

Growing up in Olathe and Wichita, Sophie remembers having hermit crabs and fish until she was about twelve years old. When Sophie was in middle school her first cat, Tigger, came to her outside and she “just never left.” Having Tigger helped form Sophie’s love for strays and feels that “having a pet is a privilege, not a right.”

Sophie and her amazing wife Taylor, share a household with two dogs and a cat. Butters, a Lab/Husky mix, and Nala, their orange tabby cat was both adopted from the Kansas Humane Society. In
fact, due to their soft hearts, Butters ended up being a foster fail! He loves swinging and throwing his rope toy. Dexter, theirDachshund, is food motivated! She says, “Literally anything he thinks is food, he will try to eat!” Nala loves her catnip banana toy and taking naps.

When she is not busy working, Sophie loves to spend time with Taylor, watching movies, listening to music, painting, and planting succulents!
